Every time I go to the supermarket and try read the food labels (if my crazy kids allow me to) I always feel like I am missing a PhD in chemistry. It’s so complicated. How do I work out what’s more important? How come sugar and MSG have so many different names? How come there is so much trans-fat in my regular foods even thought the food companies know its so bad for me? Many food companies are ripping us off, we all know that. They are selling what seems to be a healthy product as “low-fat”, “no-fat” or “no-sugar” but instead adding in simple carbohydrates, artificial sweeteners, high fructose corn syrup, additives, preservatives, food colorings, genetically modified ingredients and more, all of which are making us FAT, un-healthy and chronically sick!
Adding to the confusion is the amount of popular diets on the market: the Atkins diet, weight-watchers, Jenny Craig’s diet, the paleo diet, cabbage soup, lemon detox… There are so many I cannot seem to follow. But which one really works?
It seems that in today’s world there is so much information about health but what part of it is truly relevant? Can someone make sense of it all? And, who has time? We are all busy people.
